Cucumbers are Super Healthy

Great information from Dr. Mercola

Cucumbers are in the same plant family as squash, pumpkin, and watermelon.  Like watermelon, cucumbers are made up of mostly (95 percent) water, which means they can help you stay hydrated.

However, there’s reason to eat cucumbers all year long. With vitamin K, B vitamins, copper, potassium, vitamin C, and manganese, cucumbers can help you to avoid nutrient deficiencies that are widespread among those eating a typical American diet.

9 Reasons to Eat Cucumbers

1. Protect Your Brain

Cucumbers contain an anti-inflammatory flavonol called fisetin that appears to play an important role in brain health. In addition to improving your memory and protecting your nerve cells from age-related decline, fisetin has been found to prevent progressive memory and learning impairments in mice with Alzheimer’s disease.

2. Reduce Your Risk of Cancer

Cucumbers contain polyphenols called lignans, which may help to lower your risk of breast, uterine, ovarian, and prostate cancers. They also contain phytonutrients called cucurbitacins, which also have anti-cancer properties. According to the George Mateljan Foundation:

“Scientists have already determined that several different signaling pathways required for cancer cell development and survival can be blocked by activity of cucurbitacins.”

3. Fight Inflammation

Cucumbers may help to “cool” the inflammatory response in your body, and animal studies suggest that cucumber extract helps reduce unwanted inflammation, in part by inhibiting the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes (including cyclo-oxygenase 2, or COX-2).

4. Antioxidant Properties

Cucumbers contain numerous antioxidants, including the well-known vitamin C and beta-carotene. They also contain antioxidant flavonoids, such as quercetin, apigenin, luteolin, and kaempferol, which provide additional benefits.

For instance, quercetin is an antioxidant that many believe prevents histamine release—making quercetin-rich foods “natural antihistamines.” Kaempferol, meanwhile, may help fight cancer and lower your risk of chronic diseases including heart disease.

5. Freshen Your Breath

Placing a cucumber slice on the roof of your mouth may help to rid your mouth of odor-causing bacteria. According to the principles of Ayurveda, eating cucumbers may also help to release excess heat in your stomach, which is said to be a primary cause of bad breath.

6. Manage Stress

Cucumbers contain multiple B vitamins, including vitamin B1, vitamin B5, and vitamin B7 (biotin). B vitamins are known to help ease feelings of anxiety and buffer some of the damaging effects of stress.

7. Support Your Digestive Health

Cucumbers are rich in two of the most basic elements needed for healthy digestion: water and fiber. If you struggle with acid reflux, you should know that drinking water can help suppress acute symptoms of acid reflux by temporarily raising stomach pH; it’s possible that water-rich cucumbers may have a similar effect.

Cucumber skins contain insoluble fiber, which helps add bulk to your stool. This helps food to move through your digestive tract more quickly for healthy elimination.

8. Maintain a Healthy Weight

Cucumbers are very low in calories, yet they make a filling snack (one cup of sliced cucumber contains just 16 calories). The soluble fiber in cucumbers dissolves into a gel-like texture in your gut, helping to slow down your digestion. This helps you to feel full longer and is one reason why fiber-rich foods may help with weight control.

9. Support Heart Health

Cucumbers contain potassium, which is associated with lower blood pressure levels. A proper balance of potassium both inside and outside your cells is crucial for your body to function properly.

As an electrolyte, potassium is a positive charged ion that must maintain a certain concentration (about 30 times higher inside than outside your cells) in order to carry out its functions, which includes interacting with sodium to help control nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction, and heart function.

Organic Cucumbers Are Worth It

If you’re wondering whether you should choose organic cucumbers over conventionally grown varieties, I’d suggest organic. Cucumbers were ranked the 12th most contaminated food and the second in cancer risk due to their pesticide content, according to the Environmental Working Group (EWG).

Further, cucumbers are often waxed after harvest to withstand the long journey to market unscarred and to protect against the many hands that touch it. While the wax is supposed to be food-grade and safe, there are different types used:

  • Carnauba wax (from the carnauba palm tree)
  • Beeswax
  • Shellac (from the lac beetle)
  • Petroleum-based waxes

The natural waxes are far preferable to the petroleum-based waxes, which may contain solvent residues or wood rosins. Produce coated with wax is not labeled as such, but organic produce will not contain petroleum-based wax coatings (although it may contain carnauba wax or insect shellac).

The other potential issue is that wax seals in pesticide residues and debris, making them even more difficult to remove with just water. To reach the contaminants buried beneath the surface of your vegetables and fruits, you need a cleanser that also removes the wax, which is what a fruit and vegetable wash does. You could also peel the cucumber, but that is one of the most nutrient-dense parts of the cucumber (the other is the seeds), so it’s better to consume it if you can.

What Else Are Cucumbers Good For?

Flavonoids and tannins in cucumbers have been found to have both free-radical scavenging and pain-relieving effects, while it has a number of traditional folk uses as well. As written in the Journal of Young PharmacistsTraditionally, this plant is used for headaches; the seeds are cooling and diuretic, the fruit juice of this plant is used as a nutritive and as a demulcent in anti-acne lotions.”

As the fourth-most widely cultivated “vegetable” in the world (cucumbers are technically a fruit), cucumbers are widely available, but seek to get them from a local farmer’s market if you can. Even better, cucumbers are very easy to grow, even if you only have access to a patio. They thrive in containers (provide they have somewhere to climb on) and produce ample produce from a small number of plants, so you could try your hand at growing them yourself.

The Original Glutathione Formula™ (OGF) Story!

A message from the Co-CEO, David Kirchenbaum
“Dr. Keller and I met in 1992 and we were business partners and best friends for the next 17 years until his passing. Dr. Keller led the science and medicine and I managed operations and finances. I remember the day Dr. Keller told me he had learned about Glutathione; He was so excited and determined to develop a way to increase Glutathione levels in his patients. Once Dr. Keller finalized the methodology, I was so honored that he included me as his co-Inventor on the United States patent.”

Original Glutathione Formula BottleThe First Steps
In 1997 Dr. Keller became determined to figure out a way to increase the Glutathione levelsof his patients. He developed a formulation to begin testing. He also developed a lab test so he could actually see that Glutathione levels were increasing in his patients. He presented the test at the 1998 Conference on the Laboratory science of HIV.
LAB TEST ABSTRACT, pg. 4
Development of the Technology

Utilizing the lab test, Dr. Keller tested many formulations until he was satisfied that his technology did increase Glutathione levels in his patients. It was then that a patent application was filed for the technology. On July 17, 2001, a United States patent was granted to Dr. Keller for the Method of treatment of Glutathione deficient mammals.Click to view PATENTUtilizing this blood test, Dr. Keller monitored the effect of his Glutathione technology in his medical practice. Based upon this data, he presented abstracts at various scientific meetings including The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine 2008 and 2009, XVI International AIDS Conference and various other meetings. Each such abstract disclosed an increase in Glutathione levels utilizing his Glutathione technology.

World Wide Distribution
After witnessing the positive impact on his patients over several years, he became determined to make it available to as many people as possible. At that time there were several different  incorporating Dr. Keller’s Glutathione technology. Meanwhile, our efforts became very focused on the ground level of the HIV epidemic in Africa, prompting us to seek a partnership to increase the distribution of our Glutathione technology. To achieve this goal, Dr. Keller reviewed all the different Glutathione  that were currently in production and he arrived at what he viewed as the best of all the  for wide scale distribution. This formulation, which is known as The Original Glutathione Formula, was exclusively licensed to a newly formed Multi-Level Marketing Company on September 1, 2006. Dr. Keller was elated that tens of thousands of people outside his medical practice were benefitting from his Glutathione technology.

Dr. Keller was committed to improving the health and quality of life of people worldwide.

Renovator & Remediate for Joint Health

Renovator & Remediate

RENOVATOR

Renovator is a combination of nutrients to support joints with increases of lubricants (HA) in the synovial fluid and sulfates for cartilage

Help your body strengthen, protect, and rebuild joint tissues

  • Helps strengthen cartilage and maintain structural integrity of joints and connective tissues*
  • Protects joints from harmful free radicals that accelerate the breakdown of connective tissues*
  • Provides nutrients for joint fluid, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, membranes and blood vessels*
  • Increases lubrication and padding for improved mobility*

Build healthy joints for flexible, free movement

The scientists at SISEL have formulated Renovator, a powerhouse product, which supports our bodies’ mobility. Renovator combines glucosamine sulfate with Cynatine FLX™, a powerful new polypeptide extracted from keratin, to support healthy cartilage, plus zinc, selenium, and copper to nourish and build joint tissues, and manganese, beta-carotene, and vitamin C to reduce oxidative damage in our joints.

Many clinical trials have shown glucosamine sulfate to improve joint health, mobility, and flexibility, but may need additional ingredients to maximize its benefits. As we continue to take a daily dose, we assist our bodies in the proper maintenance of our connective and shock-absorbing tissues.1, 2, 3

Cynatine FLX™ helps to calm joint tissues, minimize joint breakdown, and build joint resilience. This new keratin joint ingredient activates two important joint antioxidant defense enzymes—glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and superoxide dismutase (SOD)—to improve the body’s ability to produce glutathione, the body’s own antioxidant defense mechanism. It also provides excellent, direct antioxidant protection and stimulates the regeneration of cells. Keratin is a polymer-forming protein, and joints use polymers to absorb shock and keep the joint together. Finally, Cynatine FLX™ is a fibrous protein that serves as structural units for various living tissues, providing a strong matrix for connective tissues.4, 5

Additionally, Renovator provides vitamins and minerals that contribute to joint health. Studies have shown that taking beta-carotene may reduce the risk of the progression of joint problems.6 Vitamin C is necessary to form collagen and is essential for the repair and maintenance of cartilage, thereby reducing the risk of joint problems.6 Manganese deficiency appears to be a factor in bone loss and degenerative joint conditions.7 Epidemiological studies show a relationship between low selenium and decreased joint health.8, 9 Zinc is involved in making up cartilage collagen.10, 11 Copper is needed for effective cross-linking of collagen and elastin.12

REMEDIATE

*Remediate is an anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling and inflammation pressures on pain receptors as it decreases damage to the joints

SISEL’s formulators have created Remediate—a powerful combination of ingredients, featuring 5-Loxin and Cat’s Claw—to care for our bodies’ joints. 5-Loxin is made from the gum resin of Boswellia serrata, commonly known as Indian frankincense. Remediate has 15 times more of the boswellic acid AKBA than natural Boswellia serrata, and AKBA supports joint health.1 5-Loxin inhibits the enzyme 5-lipooxygenase and reduces the enzyme matrix metalloproteinase—both enemies of healthy joints.2 In one study, 50 mg twice daily of 5-Loxin showed clinically and statistically significant support for subjects’ joint function—48%, 24% and 40% (compared with placebo).3

Remediate contains a bark extract of Cat’s Claw, a vine found and used in the Amazon River basin. Cat’s Claw has been found to support cellular signaling and improve measurements of joint health.4 In one study, 60 mg daily of Cat’s Claw extract for 24 weeks contributed to joint health by 53% compared to 24% with placebo).5 In another study, 100 mg daily of Cat’s Claw extract for just 4 weeks significantly supported joint health by 39% (compared to 12% with placebo).6

·       Highly concentrated active ingredients showing clinically and statistically significant contributions to joint health and physical function*

·       Contains concentrated AKBA(5-Loxin), the most powerful compound from Boswellia serrata or Indian frankincense, commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine*

·       Seventy patients completed the study. At the end of the study, both doses of 5-Loxin® conferred clinically and statistically significant improvements in pain scores and physical function scores in OA patients. Interestingly, significant improvements in pain score and functional ability were recorded in the treatment group supplemented with 250 mg 5-Loxin® as early as 7 days after the start of treatment. Corroborating the improvements in pain scores in treatment groups, we also noted significant reduction in synovial fluid matrix metalloproteinase-3. In comparison with placebo, the safety parameters were almost unchanged in the treatment groups.

·       Conclusion

·       5-Loxin® reduces pain and improves physical functioning significantly in OA patients; and it is safe for human consumption. 5-Loxin® may exert its beneficial effects by controlling inflammatory responses through reducing proinflammatory modulators, and it may improve joint health by reducing the enzymatic degradation of cartilage in OA patients.

·       Contains Uncaria tomentosa or Cat’s Claw from the Amazon River basin, used in traditional Peruvian medicine*

·       Cat’s claw is thought to have anti-inflammatory effects and has been used for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Compounds in cat’s claw are thought to block the body’s production of inflammation-producing substances called prostaglandins and tumor necrosis factor (TNF). Cat’s claw is believed to reduce pain somewhat, but it doesn’t appear to have much of an effect on reducing swelling. More evidence is needed before cat’s claw can be used as a treatment for arthritis.

·       Protects collagen*

Remediate also contains:

·       Devil’s Claw to improve the vitality of the joints*

·       Ginger extract, long used in Ayurvedic medicine around the world, and currently on the FDA’s “generally recognized as safe” list*

·       Curcumin, from the widely used Indian Ayurvedic medicine, Turmeric. Recent in vitro and animal studies on curcumin have suggested a wide range of benefits, prompting numerous clinical trials in humans. *

·       Willow Bark extract, which contains salicylic acid*

·       Nettle extract, beneficial to the synovial tissue that lines the joints*

·       Green Lipped Mussel, which contains a unique combination of fatty acids not found in any other marine or plant life, including glycosaminoglycan which supports healthy joints*

*Remediate is an anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling and inflammation pressures on pain receptors as it decreases damage to the joints

Why Massage?

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related.

And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:

  • Decreased anxiety.
  • Enhanced sleep quality.
  • Greater energy.
  • Improved concentration.
  • Increased circulation.
  • Reduced fatigue.

Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:

  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
  • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
  • Ease medication dependence.
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system.
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
  • Improve the condition of the body’s largest organ—the skin.
  • Increase joint flexibility.
  • Lessen depression and anxiety.
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
  • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
  • Reduce spasms and cramping.
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.

Aloe Vera & Essential Oils from my favorite Oil Lady!

Touch With Oils® …
a language of no words

Summer heat is still amongst us with more extreme temperatures than ever. Cool soothing relief is welcome, and healing aloe vera gel with essential oil can really fit the bill.
The Peace of Aromatic Health and Prosperity to you!
Healing Aromatic Gels
In 1989, one of the first base ingredients I used with essential oils was aloe vera gel. It just seemed like a natural mate for essential oils. They create a wonderful synergy. Living in Naples, Florida, it grew in abundant supply and was a staple to have around as a plant or in a jar. We just broke off a leaf from the plant, split it open and rubbed the clear soothing gel right on the hurting skin. Then essential oils came onto the scene. When I think of the word “aloe”, I think of “healing”. It’s soothing anti-inflammatory properties know how to heal. Aloe goes back to ancient times and is mentioned in the Bible for its healing properties.  It is widely recognized for its healing effects on burns, scrapes, bites and cuts. Aloe blends well with many substances, like other lotions, oils and creams.

Our line of five healing gels have developed over the years with the sacred synergy created by essential oils, aloe vera gel, and Organic Golden Jojoba. Since summer is still here, our special for you this month is our Skin Calm Gel.

John’s Thoughts …
Candace and I have been on the road with our dog Muga for the past 3 weeks, making the rounds in Texas visiting family and friends. It has been a bit uncomfortable for us being in the 100+ temperatures and high humidity. However, Candace keeps us cool with the Lavender-Peppermint Mist and Skin Calm Gel on those spots that get a little sunburned.

You would think a guy who grew up on the Texas coast would have learned about sunburn. Too bad I didn’t have Skin Calm Gel then for skin repair. We are looking forward to returning to the cool nights of Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
John and I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of your life with our education and oils. Thank you!

Be gentle with yourself … Life is precious.

Suffering Depression? Fight It!

I have suffered from Clinical Depression all of my life.  Over the years, I have found several helpful and natural methods to aid in lifting moods and decrease the debilitation of Depression.  I personally use essential fatty acids in supplement form, plenty of selenium in supplement form, a really good B complex vitamin supplement, an awesome glutathione accelerator supplement and magnesium with Calm Natural. We can achieve greater health and be so much closer to total wellness!

Fight Depression with Fatty Acids

The incidence of depression has been increasing at an alarming rate over the last 60 years or so.  Like many of the other emerging health problems we’re facing, the increase in depression can be linked directly to our diet.  If you or someone you know is suffering from depression, there’s an extremely good chance that it may be a result of a long-term deficiency in unsaturated fatty acids.

Cross-cultural studies have shown that a country’s level of depression has a strong link to the overall amount and kind of fatty acids being consumed.  Research has revealed that countries with the highest consumption of fish have the lowest rates of depression, and vice versa.  For example, individuals living in New Zealand eat an average of 40 lbs. of fish each year, and 6 percent of their population suffers from depression.  On the other hand, individuals in Japan consume an average of about 140 lbs. of fish a year, and less than 1 percent of their population suffers from depression.  In countries where our Western diet, high in processed and fried foods, has been introduced, the incidence of depression goes up correspondingly. (The Lancet 98;351:1213)

Much of your brain and other nervous tissue is made up of fats.  In fact, the cell membranes of nerves contain 20 percent essential fatty acids.  In order to build and maintain these cell membranes, you need to be consuming adequate amounts of essential fatty acids.

To the dismay of pharmaceutical companies, there have been a few studies that have shown that fish oil supplements can dramatically improve depression and many of its accompanying symptoms, such as mood swings, insomnia, etc. There are many clinical trials testing the effectiveness of fish and other omega-3 oils in treating problems like bipolar disorder, attention deficit disorder, and schizophrenia.

Fight Depression with Selenium

Another substance that helps ward off depression and other mental problems is selenium.  Brazil nuts are one of the richest — if not the richest — natural sources of selenium.  There are many doctors and dietitians who have their heart patients avoid nuts because of their high fat content.  Study after study, however, has shown that adding nuts to one’s diet can dramatically lower the levels of harmful cholesterol (the LDL-form), while increasing the beneficial form of cholesterol (the HDL-form).  Almonds, peanuts, pistachios, walnuts, and hazelnuts can all help lower cholesterol and other harmful blood fats.  Fresh, whole nuts should be your first choice, followed by lightly salted or dry roasted nuts.

Other Natural Depression Remedies

Here are another 6 natural and herbal remedies that are used for depression.

1) St. John’s Wort

The herb St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum) has long been used in folk medicine for sadness, worry, nervousness, and poor sleep.

Today, the results of over 20 clinical trials suggest that St. John’s wort works better than a placebo and is as effective as antidepressants for mild to moderate depression, with fewer side effects.

Studies suggest that St. John’s wort is not effective for major depression.

It’s available at health food stores, drug stores, and online in the form of capsules, tablets, liquid extracts, or tea.

St. John’s wort may take 4 to 6 weeks to notice the full effects. Side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, indigestion, and fatigue. St. John’s wort increases photosensitivity, so extra caution should be taken to protect skin and eyes from sunlight.

Although St. John’s wort appears to be reasonably safe when taken alone, it can interfere with the effectiveness of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, such as antidepressants, drugs to treat HIV infections and AIDs, drugs to prevent organ rejection for transplant patients, and oral contraceptives.

St. John’s wort is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women, children, or people with bipolar disorder, liver or kidney disease.

2) SAM-e

SAM-e, pronounced “sammy”, is short for S-adenosyl-L-methionine. It’s a chemical that’s found naturally in the human body and is believed to increase levels of neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine.

Several studies have found SAM-e is more effective than placebo.

In North America, SAM-e is available as an over-the-counter supplement in health food stores, drug stores, and online. It should be enteric-coated for maximum absorption. Although it’s one of the more expensive supplements, it remains popular as a remedy for depression and osteoarthritis.

Side effects can include nausea and constipation. For more information, read SAM-e and Depression.

3) Folic Acid

Folic acid, also called folate, is a B vitamin that is frequently deficient in people who are depressed.

Folate is found in green leafy vegetables, other vegetables, fruit, beans, and fortified grains. It’s one of the most common vitamin deficiencies because of poor diet but also because chronic conditions and various medications such as aspirin and birth control pills can also lead to deficiency.

Besides food, folic acid is also available as a supplement or as part of a B-complex vitamin.

Researchers at Harvard University have found that depressed people with low folate levels don’t respond as well to antidepressents, and taking folic acid in supplement form can improve the effectiveness of antidepressants. For more information, read Low Folate and Vitamin B12 Linked to Depression.

4) 5-HTP

5-HTP is short for 5-hydroxytryptophan. It’s produced naturally in the body and is used to make the neurotransmitter serotonin. Although taking 5-HTP in supplement form may theoretically boost the body’s serotonin levels, many experts feel there is not enough evidence to determine the safety of 5-HTP. It should not be combined with antidepressants.

5) Glutathione

Glutathione is a major defense against illness and aging. It is a vital tri-peptide consisting of Cysteine, Glycine, and Glutamine. These amino acids are naturally manufactured in every cell of your body with high concentrations in the heart, lung, liver, spleen, brain, muscle and skin tissue. Glutathione functions as both an antioxidant and an antitoxin for your body, attracting free radicals and toxins like a very powerful magnet. Glutathione boosts the immune system and fights off the damage of free radicals on your cells.

Although Glutathione is naturally prevalent in every cell of your body, starting in your early 20’s your body’s natural production of glutathione starts to decline by as much as 10% – 15% every decade. Additionally, stress, exercise, infection, injury and environmental toxins can also reduce your body’s glutathione levels. To increase your body’s natural defense against aging and cellular damage you must increase your glutathione levels. I use the original glutathione formulation from Dr. Robert Keller.

6) Diet

  • Reduce your intake of sweets
Sweets temporarily make you feel good as blood sugar levels soar, but may worsen mood later on when they plummet.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol
Caffeine and alcohol both dampen mood. Alcohol temporarily relaxes us and caffeine boosts energy, but the effects of both are short-lived. Both can worsen mood swings, anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
  • Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 is needed to produce the mood-enhancing neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine. Although deficiency of vitamin B6 is rare, a borderline deficiency may occur in people taking oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, and drugs for tuberculosis.
  • Magnesium
Most people do not get enough magnesium in their diets. Good sources of magnesium are legumes, nuts, whole grains and green vegetables. Like vitamin B6, magnesium is needed for serotonin production. Stress depletes magnesium. Or you can try Peter Gillham’s Natural Calm, a relaxing magnesium supplement.  It is sometimes called the Anti-Stress Drink.  You can visit:  Calm Natural Limited at http://www.calmnatural.com or call 1-800-961-4623.  It is gluten-free with a vegetarian formula.

    Why Bee Products?

The bee hive is a storehouse of goodies for great health. Bee Pollen, Bee Propolis, Royal Jelly, and Raw Honey have, for thousands of years, been credited with giving longer life, younger appearance and a zest for living!

These four natural ingredients have many, many documented healthful benefits. Use only products that are all natural, contains no additives or preservatives, and has no fat.

Be sure that the products are processed without heat because bee products contain every known ingredient necessary for a balanced diet. An important factor in the retention of nutrient value is that the product is processed completely without heat so that the nutrients and living enzymes are left intact. Heat processing destroys the nutrients and kills the spores. No laboratory process can replicate the life forces found in these natural products.

    The Incredible Ingredients!

The combined effects of Bee Pollen, Bee Propolis, Royal Jelly, and Raw Honey appear to be greater than the sum of the individual effects. The products work best together.

BEE POLLEN – A critical factor in the quality of Bee Pollen is that it must come from multiple sources. Multiple sourcing is necessary to assure that all nutrients are present. Only the best, freshest, multi-source pollen should be used to give them the cross-pollination benefit.

BEE PROPOLIS – The Propolis should be of the best quality and purity. A unique heat-free process of combining Bee Pollen, Bee Propolis, Royal Jelly, and Raw Honey assures the full potency and life forces contained in the hive are still present in the final product.

ROYAL JELLY – Deteriorates and loses its biological activity quickly. The Royal Jelly fed to the queen bee is never more than 24 hours old. Tests comparing 24-hour old jelly to 48-hour old jelly showed that the fresher batch was four times more biologically active. Freeze-drying is the key to providing the potency.

RAW HONEY – The best honey is raw and unfiltered. Like pollen, it should come from multiple sources to assure nutritional balance. The honey should be of the best quality and should be freeze-dried in its natural state to preserve the potency of its vitamins, minerals and enzymes.

Ingredient facts for Bee Natural Tabs

    BEE POLLEN

Multi-sourced, cross-pollinated, freeze-dried Pollen is used in Bee Natural Tabs. Bee Pollen has been called “nature’s perfect food” due to its valuable components. Studies show that people can live indefinitely on a diet of Bee Pollen and water. Clinical tests worldwide have shown that Bee Pollen is a ‘complete food’ that is capable of sustaining life and health.

Pollen is male seed of flowering plants. Some plants depend on the wind to carry pollen for fertilization, and are responsible for allergies in some individuals. Other plants require insects such as honeybees to distribute their pollen. Bee Pollen is simply pollen collected and processed by the bees and carried back to the hive as food for the colony.

As bees collect nectar from flowers, they select only the pollens that have the greatest amount of protein. Bee Pollen has five to seven times more protein than beef. Twenty-eight percent protein, without the heavy animal fat, makes Bee Pollen a healthy protein alternative.

Bee Pollen is also rich in vegetable protein. One pound of Bee Pollen is equivalent to 15 pounds of fruits and vegetables, has more protein by weight than meat, fish or eggs, and contains all of the nutrients needed to sustain life. It contains all the ingredients necessary for a balanced diet with the exception of the carbohydrate requirement which is satisfied by plain honey, included in each Bee Tab.

Bee Pollen is low in fats and calories, and has at least 96 active nutrients, including: 22 Amino Acids, 16 Vitamins and Minerals (including seven of the B complex group, one of which is B-12) 27 Mineral Salts, Trace Elements, Carbohydrates, Essential Fatty Acids, Hormones and Living Enzymes.

What Bee Pollen Is Used For:

Retards hardening of arteries. Strengthens circulatory system.
Combats symptoms of allergies, sinusitis, bronchitis, asthma, migraine headaches, urinary disorders, colitis, ulcers, digestion, reduce stress and increase alertness and stamina.
Regulates intestines, improves blood composition (increases in red and white blood cell count have been observed). Improves alertness, concentration, and memory.
Several studies have documented the value of Bee Pollen for the prostate, concluding that using Bee Pollen can significantly affect inflammation and swelling.
Along with a sensible diet, Bee Pollen can be considered a valuable weight loss food; its phenylalanine content acts as a natural appetite suppressant.
Bee Pollen has been used for years as a natural alternative to synthetic drugs for lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood, decreasing harmful LDL and increasing beneficial HDL.
European doctors prescribe Bee Pollen as a supplement to convalescents and athletes who report increases in energy levels, strength, vitality, stamina and improved recovery time.
It stimulates the metabolism and contains 15% lecithin which helps dissolve and flush fat from the body.
Cancer fighting properties of Bee Pollen have been noted in medical studies. It has also been reported to ease the side effects of radiation treatment and chemotherapy!

    BEE PROPOLIS

Freeze-Dried Bee Propolis is used in Bee Natural Tabs. Bee Propolis is made by bees from resin found on tree buds and bark, usually from conifers and poplar trees. The bees gather the resin, blend it with wax and use it in the hive to block holes, narrow entrances and sanitize the hive interior. Bees adopted sterilization long before humans were aware of the need for hygiene. The most sterile place in nature is the bee hive. Propolis is the substance responsible for neutralizing any bacteria, fungi or virus which enters the hive.

Propolis is a highly complex mixture of waxes, resins, balsams, etheric and aromatic oils and a small amount of pollen. Propolis has been found to have bactericidal and antibiotic properties. The nutritional value alone of Propolis makes it a strong and valuable food supplement especially when combined with the other bee products that make up Bee Natural Tabs. Propolis is a source of almost all known nutrients. Health practitioners recognize Propolis as a very powerful, all natural antibiotic that can prove beneficial with disorders ranging from the common cold to arthritis.

Bee Propolis is a rich source of bioflavonoids which are important elements for building the immune system and fighting disease. Other valuable components may include cinamic acid, cinnamyl alcohol, vanillin, caffeic acid, tetochrysin, isalpinin, pincembrin, chrysin, gangin, and ferulic acid. Laboratory results have shown the superior performance of Propolis over man-made drugs.

What Bee Propolis is Used For:

Propolis is one of the most powerful natural antibiotics discovered and found in nature. It is an antibiotic substance that stimulates the body’s own natural resistance.
It contains chemical substances that support and strengthen the immune system providing excellent preventative medicine to fight disease.
Research shows that Bee Propolis has antiseptic, antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.
Unlike man-made antibiotics which destroy necessary intestinal flora, Bee Propolis leaves the intestinal tract in balance; nor, will bacteria develop a resistance to Propolis as they do with man-made drugs.
    Regulates hormones.
In 1991 Columbia University published a study on the cancer fighting properties of Bee Propolis.
Another study published in the June 1995 issue of Cancer Research entitled “Chemoprevention of Colon Carcinogenesis by Phenylethyl-3-methylcaffeate” showed that caffeic acid esters present in Propolis have cancer prevention properties.
Has been used successfully in cases of urinary tract infection, gout, sinus congestion, colds, influenza, bronchitis, gastritis, periodontal disease, ulcers, cancer and headaches.

    ROYAL JELLY

Freeze-Dried Royal Jelly is used in Bee Natural Tabs. Royal Jelly is a creamy white liquid secreted by nurse bees and is the exclusive diet of the queen bee. When the hive loses its queen, a regular worker egg is transformed into a new queen simply by providing it a steady stream of fresh Royal Jelly. This premium diet gives her an extended life span of 5-7 years while regular worker bees live only 2-3 months and enables her to produce twice her weight in eggs daily.

In spite of extensive research, parts of this compound still remain a mystery to scientists. This mystery substance contains about 20% of an unknown material essential to maintain a species that has remained virtually unchanged for eons. Science hasn’t identified or copied this compound yet!

Royal Jelly is rich in all of the B-complex vitamins, A, C, D, and E, enzymes and amino acids (20 amino acids, including cystine, lysine, and arginine). It’s highly concentrated with rich proteins and hormones. It contains moisture, lipids, and minerals. Royal Jelly provides fatty acids, sugars, sterols, nerve message transmission). It is also rich in nucleic acids and contains gamma globulin, which stimulates the immune system, and decanoic acid, a strong antibiotic.

Only 20 years ago Royal Jelly was reserved for the very rich, since a single ounce cost thousands of dollars.

What Royal Jelly is Used For:

Studies show that Royal Jelly exhibits cancer fighting properties, is effective in relieving arthritis, lowering bad cholesterol, easing symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, and appears to be powerful in countering aspects of the aging process.
It also stimulates the circulatory system, speeds up the metabolism, and helps the body fight infection.
Royal Jelly produces a strong burst of energy and a feeling of well-being.

    RAW HONEY

Freeze-Dried Raw Honey is used in Bee Natural Tabs. Raw Honey is made from the nectar of flowers. Worker bees gather the nectar and place it in their honey sac where it mixes with acid secretions. Bees reduce the moisture content from 40-80% to 18-20% before the cell is sealed and the honey is complete.

Most processed honey today has been heated and filtered, robbing it of its nutritional value and resulting in a product with little more value than a simple sweetener. Honey is an instant energy-building food containing all the essential minerals necessary for life, all of the B complex group, amino acids, enzymes and other vital factors. Honey is virtually free of bacteria and rarely spoils. Raw Honey contains up to 80 different substances, important in human nutrition. Besides glucose and fructose, Honey contains vitamins (all of the B complex A, C, D, E, and K), minerals and tract elements (magnesium, sulfur, phosphorus, iron calcium, chlorine potassium, iodine, sodium, copper, and manganese). The live enzyme content of honey is one of the highest of all foods. Honey also contains proteins, amino acids, carbohydrates, organic acids, hormones, and antimicrobial and antibacterial factors.

Much of raw, unfiltered honey’s effectiveness may be due to the presence of Bee Pollen and Propolis, but there are substances in honey as yet unidentified, that may be responsible for its positive effects.

What Raw Honey Is Used For:

Research shows that honey improves chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, sinus problems and allergies.
Honey has been used to combat depression, fatigue, insomnia, nervous disorders, urine retention problems, cramps, headaches and high blood pressure.
Beautifies and soothes the skin, clears many skin disorders.
    Hastens the healing of wounds.
Facilitates the digestion and assimilation of other foods.
Has laxative, sedative, antitoxic, and antiseptic effects.
    Is effective in countering anemia.
