I’ve been reading up on coffee and caffeine. It is quite interesting since caffeine is not perceived as a healthy supplement. Coffee is typically avoided as a health issue, such as pregnant women should not ingest coffee because it can affect fetal heart development. I learned quite a lot from Dr. Mercola on this subject.

There appears to be instances where coffee may be of therapeutic benefit to aid in total wellness.

Coffee Quality is Key

When it comes to the whole food, in this case of the coffee bean as opposed to the isolated caffeine, the converse is oftentimes true.

Most coffee produced today is heavily contaminated with pesticides. It’s actually one of the most heavily sprayed crops grown. So, when speaking of coffee here, make sure that you are using organic, pesticide-free coffee. With a quality coffee bean, you get nutrients and flavonoid antioxidants.

As an organic food in the United States, the crop must have been grown using at least 95 percent organic fertilizers and without the use of chemical pesticides for at least three consecutive years and the beans may not be irradiated.

Always look for the USDA 100% Organic seal. If you have trouble finding organic coffee in your local grocery store, check online, as there are many organic coffees available. Coffee should be taken black, without sugar (or use Stevia instead). Otherwise, you could be overspiking your insulin and causing insulin resistance.

There are some reasons why coffee has gotten such a bad rap.

Risks of Caffeine

Most coffee available today is rancid and packed from ground beans that will be stale in a week. The rate of rancidity increases heavily once you grind the beans. A lot of the bagged coffee you find in your grocery store is an already degraded product with rancid oils inside.

For total wellness, in order to provide you with healthful nutritional co-factors, you would want to grind the coffee beans of your choice fresh, making sure they are organic and pesticide free.

If too much caffeine is being chronically absorbed, there is a high likelihood that it could cause glutamate toxicity and related damage in certain areas of your brain.

Acidity from Coffee—Is that Good or Bad?

Another reason why coffee has a bad reputation is because it’s an acid forming substance. But some acid forming foods are essential to your health. They provide benefits that should not be overlooked. However, Acidity is a major problem. Anything that chronically acidifies your body can cause metabolic acidosis, a condition which is extremely unhealthy to say the least.

When your body becomes overly acidic, due to an acid forming diet, you set yourself up to a total metabolic shutdown. Over acidification of your body wastes your muscle and bone tissues, and as the level of acid rises, cellular congestion occurs along with increased vulnerability to degenerative disease. Basically, when your body is acid, you’re falling apart… So there was good reason to believe that all acid foods may cause metabolic disorders and disease including cancer. The two things that cancer thrive on are acid and sugar. So you should avoid having too much acid and certainly avoid sugar. Logically… But in real life, not all acid foods are bad…

In fact, some of the most beneficial foods are acid forming. These include protein foods and plant based antioxidants such as alagic acid, garlic acid, fulvic acid and humeric acid all of which are highly beneficial to your health.

So what should you do? For total wellness, first of all, eat whole foods and do not ever eat protein isolate… protein isolate doesn’t have the alkalizing mineral co-factors that are needed to balance the acidity of the protein. This means that you should stay away from all whey isolate, hemp isolate, or soy isolate. These are extremely acidifying. If you keep using them in large amounts unbalanced by alkalizing foods, you risk metabolic acidosis.

Virtually all plant foods are alkalizing, besides glutenous grains and some nuts and seeds… If you support high protein intake with a high intake of fruits and vegetables and good selection of nuts like raw unpasteurized almonds for instance, you cannot go wrong. You must balance acidic and alkalizing within the body for total wellness.

The same rule actually applies to coffee! Another great way to balance the acidity in our bodies is to use alkalized water. I personally use a Kangen Water machine to alkalize my water for drinking and it majorly helps to decrease the acidity of the body and promote much better health. You can contact me if you are interested in finding out more about Kangen Water!

If you drink coffee, just make sure your intake of raw fruits or vegetables is high enough. Essentially, a good diet is a balanced diet that includes all the major building blocks—fats, proteins and carbs—acidic and alkalizing foods must be balanced! Using Kangen Water in making your coffee is another way to lower the acidity in your body!

What Makes Caffeine Healthy?

Natural sources of caffeine include tea, coffee, and chocolate. These whole caffeinated foods are highly beneficial. Every time you get naturally occurring caffeine, such as in cocoa beans, coffee or tea, you get it from a nutritionally dense healthy whole food. And note that when you use the same food in a decaffeinated form such as decaffeinated coffee, or decaffeinated tea, you ingest ”nutritionally deficient inferior foods.

A tea without caffeine is useless. It loses all the antioxidant bioflavonoids in the processing. Same with decaffeinated coffee…it has zero nutritional value. Research has shown that both whole cocoa beans and coffee have remarkable neuroprotective properties. There is emerging evidence that South American societies who drink freshly ground coffee from whole coffee beans have the lowest rates of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. That’s definitely something I’m interested in because Alzheimer’s and Dementia run in my family.

***Can Coffee stop aging?*** There is a new school of research that argues that the body is much smarter than previously thought…and it has the capacity to literally stop aging. The body has a mechanism that can actually destroy damaged, sick or cancerous cells along with weak or damaged muscle fibers. These are then digested and recycled back into the tissues. BDNF (Neuro-factor) turns on the mechanism that activates stem cells to rebuild the tissue. This mechanism is real. It’s just that it stays dormant for most people… you need to know how to activate it.

***Coffee activates this rejuvenation mechanism in your brain. You will keep your brain young by activating neuro-factors that regenerate neurons and recycle your brain tissue.”

Other Benefits of Coffee

Coffee increases your metabolism by up to 20 percent.

Again, make sure you use whole, fresh, organic coffee and take it balck without sugar (or use Stevia).

So, all in all, it appears coffee may have some valuable benefits, particularly to boost the benefits for your health, as long as you get high quality organic coffee, ground your own beans to make sure it’s fresh, and avoid adding sugar.

If you use a “drip” coffee maker, be sure to use non-bleached filters. The bright white ones, which most people use, are chlorine bleached and some of this chlorine will be extracted from the filter during the brewing process and they are also full of dangerous disinfection by products like dioxin.

Also be careful about the container you use. You will want to avoid plastic cups as the BPA from the plastic will migrate into your blood . You also want to avoid the use of Styrofoam cups as that will leach polystyrene molecules. Your best bets include glass and ceramic travel mugs.

Hi everyone, as Mother’s Day approaches, my Mom is more and more on my mind. I miss her so much. She died 2 years ago on Good Friday. Why is it that you need someone so much more after they are gone? Supposedly, as you get older, you expect to get some wisdom, but sometimes I think that I just don’t even come close to wisdom.

Anyway, Mom has been gone now for 2 years (and Daddy has been gone for 1 year) and I still firmly believe that we can fight off Alzheimers. I still firmly believe that if Mom had had a real chance of surviving the nursing home accident and the subsequent negligence, we would have had a very good chance of getting Mom back some from the abyss of Alzheimers. There are so many alternative health solutions to help with these kinds of diseases, especially if we eliminate toxins from the body and eliminate toxic products from our homes. And that is just two alternative solutions.

Mom and I enjoyed our last years together, maintaining her beautiful roses on the side of their home. She and I would go down the row of rose bushes and “ooh and aah” over the beautiful variations in colors…she had green, purple, white, red, yellow, peach, pinks and a few others that I can’t remember. They were gorgeous. We trimmed out some of her great Hosa ground cover and then planted those cuts in my flower bed right in front of our home. It all took just great and I get beautiful blurple (blue purple) colored flowers with the Hosa every spring/summer.

Mom helped me out (supervising) when I painted my kitchen and my bathroom. We giggled a lot but had fun being together. She also helped me pick out beautiful fabric to cover the kitchen chair cushions. It was perfect.

One of the most favorite things Mom and I did together was to go to the Le Peeps close by my house for brunch. We frequently did this and the waitresses there got to know Mom very well and also understood that she had Alzheimers. They were so wonderful with Mom and she delighted in their attention. Mom was a very tiny woman but she could really put away the good food at Le Peeps. She almost always got their Le Petite French Toast with strawberries and ate every bite.

I know that I mentioned in previous blog articles of Mom that she was not a particularly nurturing person but that with Alzheimers, she became the sweetest and most loving Mom I could ever have hoped for. When I would walk into the room where she was (her home, the secured Alzheimers assisted living facility or anywhere she happened to be), her face would light up with the greatest delight in seeing me. It would always make my day. She would then do everything in her power to make sure I had food to eat, or a blanket to cover me up if I stayed overnight in her home, or take me out on the patio to sit with her and enjoy the day and her roses or whatever she could do that might make me happier. She would constantly ask me if I was happy. I would constantly reassure her that I was happier than I ever thought possible and she would just laugh with glee. Throughout her Alzheimers time, she was always making sure that I was happy or checking to make sure that Daddy was alright. It was amazing to watch her and love her.

When my sister, Pattie, would drive out during the year 5 or 6 times (she came out as often as possible and she was a deaf ed teacher so it was not always easy for her to come out to visit), she and I would take Mom for drives in the mountains and Mom was always so pleased. Pattie and I would frequently take Mom to lunch at Le Peeps, Village Inn or somewhere special and Mom was always thrilled.

One of my favorite places to go with Mom was to the Goodwill Center on Broadway. We would walk up and down all the aisles and Mom would pick out things to show me. We always came home with clothes for her and clothes for me. It was fun and she loved it.

One of my very favorite pictures of Mom and Dad is below. I miss them both so much.

As you can see, Daddy was about 5′8″ and Mom was about 5′. This was early in Mom’s Alzheimers diagnosis. It was a terribly difficult time for my Dad. I lived only 10 minutes away from Mom and Dad so Daddy often called me to come over when he couldn’t get Mom to stop crying. Of course, in the early days of Alzheimers, Mom understood very well that she was losing everything: her memories. Eventually, she did not know who Daddy was. She always seemed to know me though…which was a blessing for me and hopefully, for her! I would always go over when Daddy called and climb into bed with Mom. I would hold her and rock her, telling her that I would never leave her. Eventually, she would calm down some.

Often I would spend the night on the couch and she would sneak out all night long to be sure that I was covered up with a warm blanket. I reassured her and led her gently back to bed each time. But 15 minutes later, she would be sneaking out to the living room again to check on me. She was so cute.

I have a special Whispers From Heaven windchime hanging in my front room that holds a tiny picture of my Mom and Dad. It also has a very special message hanging with it that reads like this:

When I left this world without you
I know it made you blue.
Your tears fell so freely,
I watched; I know this is true.

While you were weeping,
Days after I passed away -
While all was silent within me,
I saw you kneel to pray.

From this wonderful place called heaven
Where all my pain is gone,
I send a gentle breeze to whisper,
“My loved ones, please go on”

The peace that I have found here
Goes far beyond compare
No rain, no clouds, no suffering —
Just LOVE from everywhere.

You need not be troubled
Just stay close to GOD in prayer
Someday we’ll be reunited
My love, HIS love surrounds you always,
EVERYWHERE!

Blessings to all who read this blog with care and love! Be blessed with wisdom, love, peace and hope for all that is wonderful!

Warmly,

I know that this topic, Artificial Sweeteners, has been presented many times but I still hear people all the time believing that they are safe and good. It is amazing to me that so many still use the pretty little packages of pretend sweeteners. Some of them may be FDA-approved, but according to a long-time medical professional/clinically trained pharmacist, Suzy Cohen, firmly believes that they are dangerous. Some clinical research has associated artificial sweeteners with migraines, seizures, depression, fatigue, hearing loss, tinnitus, and memory loss, not to mention anxiety and panic attacks. Suzy is particularly concerned about children because their developing brains may be affected by chemicals currently deemed “safe” by the FDA.

In 2008, after several major food companies (including Coca-Cola and PepsiCo) performed scientific reviews that deemed stevia extract to be “generally recognized as safe,” the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved its use as a food additive. Prior to the FDA approval, stevia could only be marketed as a dietary supplement and was commonly sold as a liquid extract in natural foods stores. Stevia-extract-sweetened foods and beverages are most likely a healthier option than similar items made with artificial sweeteners such as aspartame. But for optimal health, it’s best to cut back on processed foods and choose naturally sweet alternatives.

Here are some recommendations for naturally produced sweeteners which are more readily recognized by the body and therefore, processed and eliminated properly:

*Natural cane sugar or brown sugar - unbleached and unprocessed.

*Stevia – calorie-free natural dietary supplement. It is heat-stable so you can cook with it and use it with any food or beverages. This sweetener is being recognized more and more as a wonderful natural and safe sugar substitute.

*Agave nectar - another natural sweetener; a sap extracted from the agave plant. 1/3 cup of agave syrup is equal to 1 cup of sugar.

*Honey
*Maple syrup
*Brown rice syrup
*Molasses

Stevia is my favorite sweetener and I use it with everything. No calories and available through Whole Foods and many of the big chain grocery stores now. Stevia is grown all over the world and is being used by so many, especially diabetics and people with weight loss problems.

I absolutely love the smart, high integrity health companies who use Stevia in their products instead of sugar, high fructose corn syrup and other types of unhealthy sweeteners. Max International is one of those companies and is another reason why their products are exceptional.

Their vitamin/mineral product, Max-n-Fuze, is exceptional using nano-technology to deliver their nutrients. Max International uses Stevia to sweeten this product and it begins to deliver the nutrients to the body while still in your mouth. Awesome!

Check out Max International’s glutathione accelerator, MaxGXL…amazing product that provides the body with the precursors needed for the body to manufacture its own glutathione. The first and only scientific, health breakthrough for glutathione. Check it out at Max International.

22. Tooth decay

Science finds magnesium too difficult to measure, as it is responsible for the correct metabolic function of over 350 enzymes in the body. The creation of ATP-adenosine triphospate-the energy molecules of the body; the action of the heart muscle; the proper formation of bones and teeth; relaxation of blood vessels; and the promotion of proper bowel function are all in the domain of magnesium. Medicine has turned its back on magnesium because most of the funding for medical research now comes from drug companies. Magnesium is not a patented drug and therefore will not be studied by drug companies, except to try to disprove its action.

While researching her book, “The Miracle of Magnesium”, Carolyn Dean, M.D., N.D. found that doctors have been prescribing magnesium for heart disease since the 1930’s. A review of seven major clinical studies showed that IV magnesium reduced the odds of death by more than half in patients suffering acute myocardial infarction (heart attack). One study, LIMIT-2 developed a protocol for giving magnesium as soon as possible after onset of the heart attack and before any other drugs. If those criteria were followed, heart muscle damage was greatly reduced, and neither hypertension nor arrhythmia developed.

Magnesium is able to dilate blood vessels; prevent spasm in the heart muscle and blood vessel walls; counteract the action of calcium, which increases spasm; help dissolve blood clots; dramatically lessen the site of injury and prevent arrhythmia; and act as an antioxidant against the free radicals forming at the site of injury.1-4 One of the main reasons that heart drug, digoxin, becomes toxic is because there is not enough magnesium in the body.5

In spite of the fact that heart drugs, mainly diuretics, have the bad habit of depleting magnesium-along with potassium and even though magnesium is absolutely required for stabilizing heart muscle activity – magnesium is not utilized properly by conventional medicine.

A small group of international magnesium researchers, however, have continued, against all odds, to prove the importance of magnesium – not only as a nutrient for thousands of body processes-but also as a medicine to treat magnesium-depleted health conditions. Drs. Bella and Burton Altura are two hard-working magnesium researcher who have performed laboratory research and clinical research to the tune of about 1,000 studies over the past forty years. The Alturas personally confirmed that the 22 magnesium-related conditions, listed above, have a solid basis in science.

A reason that Dr. Altura felt magnesium was not given its due is because there has been no lab test that will give an accurate reading of the magnesium status in the tissues. Only one percent of magnesium of the body is distributed in the blood, making a simple sample of magnesium in the blood highly inaccurate. That’s why most doctors who rely on blood tests for magnesium and not magnesium deficiency signs and symptoms and realization that up to 80 percent of the population is deficient, will miss an important diagnosis.

The Alturas took it upon themselves to develop and research a method that would test specifically for magnesium ions. It came about in 1987 and is called the Blood Ionized Magnesium Test. Its accuracy has been confirmed countless times with sensitive digital imaging microscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy and the magnesium fluorescent probe. With this test it is now possible to directly measure the levels of magnesium ions in whole blood, plasma and serum using ion-selective electrodes.8 The Alturas have used the ionized magnesium test in hundreds of research trials on dozens of different conditions proving, for example, that the 22 conditions listed above are related to magnesium deficiency.9-15

If there is enough magnesium in the soil where green leafy vegetables, nuts, and seeds are grown, then we have a chance to obtain magnesium from our diet. Organic foods may have more magnesium, but only if farmers replenish their soil with magnesium-rich fertilizers. Growers should be required to use top-quality fertilizers and should test their crops for the long list of nutrients we need to stay healthy.

In general, to get as much magnesium as possible in the diet, eat plenty of organic leafy green vegetables, nuts and seeds every day. Adding green drinks to your menu will help you achieve a higher magnesium status. However, if you are suffering from the following symptoms you may need supplemental magnesium: muscle twitches, tics, or spasms; “Charlie horse” (the muscle spasm that occurs when you stretch your legs); insomnia or restless sleep; stress; back pain; headaches, cluster headaches, migraines; stiff and aching muscles; bones and joints that need continued chiropractic treatment; weakness; hypoglycemia; diabetes; nervousness; hyperactivity; high blood pressure; osteoporosis; PMS; constipation; angina; kidney stones; aging; depression; heart attack; irregular heartbeat; attention deficit disorder; aggressive behavior; chronic fatigue syndrome; stroke; anxiety; confusion, muscle weakness; hiccups; seizures; high-strung; exhaustion from exercise.

Supplementing with magnesium must also take into account the balance between calcium and magnesium. Finland, which, from 1973 to 1999 had the highest recorded incidence of heart attack in middle-aged men in the world, also has a high calcium to magnesium ratio in the diet at 4 parts calcium to 1 part magnesium.16-17 Americans, in general, have a high calcium to magnesium ratio in their diet and consequently in their bodies; the U.S. ratio is 3.5-to-1. Our dietary emphasis on a high calcium intake without sufficient magnesium and because of the excessive emphasis on women taking high doses of calcium for osteoporosis, we are creating more imbalance between the two minerals.

Here’s to a very special and enlightening year! I hope that you are looking forward to 2010 as much as I am. Last year was a tough year for me, as were the previous 3 years. I lost my mother-in-law, my mother, my father and my 15 year old dog, Pepper. These last few years were my first time for facing death and trying to make peace with this phenomena of life…not very easy for me.

It has been very hard on my health, taking care of my mother-in-law, mother and father for the past 8 years or so. Stress does that to us many times over our lives. Eventually, we must take a hard look at ourselves and decide to focus again on what will best serve us for a good and healthy life.

That is the point where I am at this time and my optimism has kicked in again. I’m grateful for that and I’m also focusing on my spiritual growth, as well. I’ve decided to work with an energy healer and am looking forward to experiencing this opportunity for growth and better health. I will try to keep you updated on my progress and how this energy healing works.

In the meantime, I want to share again one of the most important “health breakthroughs” I’ve ever seen in my 40 plus years of researching and studying the health industry. If you google “glutathione“, you will find out how intensely important it is to your body and your health.

However, glutathione cannot be introduced to the body just by taking a pill, tablet, liquid or capsule supplement. It is destroyed in the stomach acid almost immediately. Finally, a doctor of renown, Dr. Keller, developed and formulated (with a composition patent, reserved for pharmaceuticals only) a glutathione accelerator, MaxGXL, which introduces the precursors needed by our bodies to manufacture our own glutathione.

Scientists call it the “Master Antioxidant”. Glutathione has never been able to be introduced into the body and recycle itself prior to this product. Doctors, researchers, and scientists have been looking for a way for a very long time to get glutathione levels in the body raised so that the body functions properly. Glutathione has been used intraveneously in ER for a long time for life-threatening health problems. But, of course, it is terribly expensive and you have to have it done over and over again because it doesn’t allow the body to recycle it and manufacture its own glutathione.

Glutathione is natural to the body; we are born with the ability to manufacture our own glutathione. But as we age, have illnesses/disease, take in toxins over the years from chemicals and pollution, our body’s ability to manufacture its own glutathione declines rapidly. This health product, MaxGXL, is the first scientifically-based with placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical and crossover studies to give the body what it needs to produce/manufacture its own glutathione.

I am including some links for you to check out, if interested, to learn more about how this all works. If you would give me your address, I will send you more information. Plus, you can Google glutathione and see more about all the studies that have been done.

Please feel free to call me anytime with questions. I would also be able to connect you with some doctors that you could talk to about this product, as well. There is a very unique and special vitamin/mineral supplement that supports the MaxGXL with additional support for manufacturing glutathione in the body; it is called Max-n-Fuze and has a nanotechnology delivery system.

My sister is taking MaxGXL, as I am and also my husband and youngest son. I have some wonderful friends and business partners who would be willing to share their personal testimony about this product and how it has helped them. I will also try to get a hold of some testimonies pertaining to your health issue and be more pertinent to your needs if you wish to learn more.

To learn about this new discovery that has been awarded a “Composition Patent” which is usually only given to Prescription Drugs, and to learn about this AMAZING product called MAX GXL….

First go to http://www.stevenkscott.com and watch the 5 minute interview with LARRY KING LIVE to know who Mr. Scott is…..

Then go to http://www.connieclark.max4u.com and click on a 14 minute information video with Mr. Scott talking about MaxGXL and World Famous Dr. Robert Keller ( a Triple Board Certified MD in Oncology, Hematology, and Immunology. Then click on Products, then MaxGXL for a wealth of information. Then click on Testimonials.

There is also a 1 hour MaxGXL TV show on DirecTV on Monday nights every week. But here is a link where you can actually watch the TV shows and pick which segments you are most interested in viewing. Go to my team website at http://www.smilin2TheMax.com and click on Max GXL TV link in left column to see the MaxGXL show.

Born on February 1, 1999 in Forest Hills, New York, Rachelle (Chelley) was welcomed into the world by her mother Marie, her sister Christine, and her maternal grandparents Maxime and Solanges Leger. Chelley’s father had abandoned the family when her mother was carrying her at only three months.

Despite the lack of one parental figure in the home, Chelley knew no sadness or hardship, for she was surrounded by love. There was never a dull moment in the Philippe household. Chelley’s laughter could be heard throughout the house, as well as odd sounds that would reveal her mischievous actions from curious ventures. Her astounding beauty and charm was mesmerizing.

When Chelley looked at you with her big bold dark eyes, you had no choice but to submit. Accompanied with her shimmering smile which sealed the deal, you were under her spell…so to speak. She was a happy and healthy child. Chelley was rarely sick, always full of life and developing normally.

On February 4, 2000, three days after her first birthday, Chelley received four immunizations at the Pediatrician’s office. It wasn’t long after that her mother noticed a change in Chelley’s overall demeanor. She no longer displayed an interactive role in playing. She no longer looked at people with her peering eyes. At the age of one, she should have been able to eat some solid foods, but when trying only gagged. Her speech, though premature, had turned into babbling obscure sounds, almost appearing to be contra-verbalization. At age one she was also not walking. The once interactive child became introverted, only interested in objects of color or stimulation. Songs became an addictive passion for her wanting to view programs such as Sesame Street and Barney which combined music and motion. People were no longer of interest to Rachelle.

It was not until the age of eighteen months and after pressure from her mother, that Chelley was finally evaluated by a Neurologist, and a Psychologist who reluctantly issued the diagnosis of Autism. To say the least, devastation was an understatement. Prior to this diagnosis, the family had planned on moving to Charlotte, North Carolina.

The move was melancholy. The family struggled to acquaint themselves in their new location as well as educate themselves in providing the best care for Chelley. Tragedy hit again on October 8, 2002, when Chelley’s maternal grandmother suddenly collapsed into cardiac arrest. The loss depleted the family of retirement income and
benefits, a caretaker for Chelley, the homemaker and the matriarch.

Soon after her grandmother’s passing, Chelley’s mother tirelessly researched to gain an understanding of this disease and to discover a means to make life more normal for everyone. Pulling together, Chelley’s mother took on another job, and adjustments were made in lifestyle to accommodate an in-home therapy program after Chelley had significantly regressed in a classroom setting. God’s favor led her mother to meeting proactive and knowledgeable parents affected by Autism, and also doctors practicing groundbreaking treatments for Autism. A specific diet full of minerals, vitamins and organic foods were also found to be helpful to Chelley’s health and behavior. These new findings were beneficial, but the results were slow coming. Secondly, none of these sources were acknowledged or accepted by any insurance company. The average cost was approximately $80,000 a year.

Concessions were made by the family in order to offer the glimmer of hope Chelley needed to one day become a viable member of society. Marie reached out to Chelley’s extended family and close friends for help, who willingly and selflessly supported the dream as much as financially possible during difficult times. Some local advocate organizations came through as well by providing nourishment, safety equipment, respite funding, and needed supplies. But as cutbacks were experienced by everyone after the September 11th 2001’s terrorist incident, all financial assistance to Chelley came to a halt, causing her to become an economic casualty/victim.

Marie was able to do what she could for Chelley, but savings were depleted, credit cards were maxed out, and a third job added. Although Chelley had significantly regained development and cognitive skills, everything had to come to a halt due to insufficient finances.

Years went by, and Chelley made limited progress. She was pretty much non-verbal, understood few commands, and hardly did anything independently at school. School was especially uneventful.

But God is faithful. On May 19th 2009, Captain Denise Blankenship, a friend of the family, and a strong believer in Chelley’s total healing, introduced Marie to a product by the name of MAXGXL. Denise was convinced that this would help Chelley improve.

Having nothing to lose, Marie started the product on Chelley that very night. The second dosage was given the morning of May 20th. Subsequent to her first dose, Chelley was given a standard of 2x-4x a day. Without exaggerating, the following occurred:
• May 20th (day 2) – Chelley’s teacher reported Chelley accomplishing several tasks (four) independently
(when on average she would accomplish zero independently and on a good day, possibly two tasks independently). In addition to that, for the FIRST time in the five years Chelley attended school, she came home with a star. The note on the back of the star stated: “for good counting & imitating in music with friends: We also noticed a calming effect from her usual rambunctious behavior.
• May 21st (day 3) – Chelley accomplished three tasks independently. Also on this day, we had taken Chelley out in the community to the popular event “Speed Street”. Two other children accompanied Chelley. At the end of the day, Chelley appropriately said on her own “good bye” to the children.
• May 25th (day 7) – Chelley accomplished three tasks independently, and a comment from her teacher “Good day, lots of good work”. Also at home, Chelley properly responded for the first time to the commands “turn off the light” and “get your toothbrush”.
• May 26th (day – Five tasks accomplished independently at school, with a note from her teacher “Good work – she is doing so many of her tasks independently lately, even packing and unpacking her backpack”.
• May 28th (day 10) – Chelley accomplished three tasks independently with a comment from her teacher “Working hard lately, lots of tasks independently”.
• May 29th (day 11) – Four tasks independently
• June 1st (day 14) – Four tasks independently
• June 2nd (day 15) – Four tasks independently
• June 3rd (day 16) – Note from teacher stated “Did a 100’s chart on computer independently:
• June 9th (day 22) – Basically the end of the school year, Chelley accomplished SIX tasks independently.

These are just a few things to mention for now. But since that time, Chelley has also been able to communicate when she needs to go to the bathroom and when she is hungry; situations which were pretty much guess work for us in the past. There have been so many milestones that there are too many to list. Chelley’s family is once
again encouraged and confident that Chelley, now the age of ten, has a chance for a full recovery.

MAXGXL is inexpensive, and yet extremely effective, and fast producing. I am so grateful to Denise for having faith in this product and for being generous in sharing it with us. My wish is for other families with special needs children get a hold of this product. It will be life changing.

It’s been almost 6 months now since Daddy died (March 11, 2009). I wasn’t even over my grieving for my Mom who died a year before Daddy (March 21, 2008). The past 8 to 10 years have been some of the roughest, and yet, some of the greatest times spent with my parents. I was chosen to be the caregiver for my parents and I am grateful.

Mom and Dad moved back to Colorado in 1998, after living in Texas for 10 years. Dad was feeling like their health was deteriorating (Mom had a breast removed) and he wasn’t sure that he could handle everything. I was so thrilled to have them back nearby.

We really enjoyed being able to visit often, going to dinner together, having holidays together again and just spending time with the whole family…my Mom, my Dad, my Mother-in-Law and our 4 children. Brothers and sisters came out to visit when they could….from MN, IL, CA and it was super.

In 2000, way too soon, my Mom began showing signs of forgetfulness. Alzheimers runs in our family and she had always worried that she would be like her mother with Alzheimers. And sure enough, she was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2001. I wish I had known about glutathione back then. What a dreadful disease…..helplessly I watched my Mom through the entire loss of her memories, her ability to form full sentences, her FEAR when she realized very frequently in the early stages that she was “losing everything” as she said so often. She began to wander a bit and Daddy would find her in some neighbor’s home. She would be frightened and not know who Daddy was so she didn’t want to go with him. She could no longer cook and Daddy had to always check the stove to be sure it was turned off. He would call me several times a week to come over because he couldn’t stop Mom from crying. I would go over, hold Mom in my arms and rock her, telling her that I would always be here for her whenever she needed me. Eventually, she would stop crying and I could coax a little laughter out of her.

Of course, I tried everything I could think of….medical treatments such as Namenda (I ordered it from Germany because it had not yet been approved here in the USA) and it did seem to help a bit. Mom couldn’t take the other treatments because they made her very ill physically. I made sure that Mom took vitamins, the very best that I could find at the time. I replaced all their chemically-laced toxic cleaners and personal care items with environmentally-safe products and I’m sure it was better for them, but probably way too late to do much good.

Mom complained about her leg hurting and she would cry asking us to please have her leg cut off. I would explain that we couldn’t cut her leg off but we would try to alleviate the pain. Her doctor gave her some arthritis med treatment but it didn’t do any good. He even gave her cortisone shots but they didn’t help at all. Finally, I tried one of my alternative health solution products and within a week, she no longer was complaining about the pain, her leg was no longer buckling under her and she was feeling just great.

I began looking for ways to keep her active and also secure. My Dad was becoming exhausted trying to take care of her and he needed breaks. I began contacting different kinds of senior care help, the Alzheimers Association, longterm health care, Adult Protection Agency and many others to learn what I could setup to help my Mom and Dad.

Watch for my next Post for this senior care help information. And please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about Alzheimers and the solutions/hardships endured during this journey.

Be healthy and happy!

Warmly,

I designed and implemented a special Alzheimers/Dementia website dedicated to my parents, Elwood and Alice Godfrey. My hope is to make it a Charity where donations and proceeds from my businesses go to help in the research for a cure or health management of Alzheimers.

Spirit of Life Foundation

I cared for my Mom and Dad for about 10 years, helping them in their own home for several years and then in a Secure Assisted Living facility for less than a year. Unfortunately, my Mom was placed in a sister facility (nursing home) and was damaged beyond hope in less than 2 days. We did all we could to bring her back to the way she was before she went into the nursing home but there was too much damage from lack of care, negligence, not following up with the doctor’s orders and much more. By the time I got her out of there and into a hospital, she was almost dead.

She was completely malnourished and dehydrated. The only hope we had was to put a feeding tube into her stomach. She lived another year and 3 months. And she did gain a tiny bit of recognition of her loved ones and a small ability to talk sometimes, but she never walked again and she was constantly in danger of aspiration/pneumonia/etc. I moved her to another nursing home (it was like night and day from the first home) and they loved her and cared for her like she were their own Mom. I am grateful to them.

We took my Dad home to live with us for the next 2 years. He had been diagnosed with Dementia, COPD, esophageal cancer, and finally with liver cancer. No one expected him to live as long as he did and in as good health as he was those last couple of years….but then, I am an alternative health consultant and advocate.

I finally did have to put him in the same nursing home (2nd one) that my Mom had been in and they cared for him and loved him so very much. He only lived another 6 months there. But I was with him so much of the time, just like I was for my Mom.

They are together now and I will continue my journey and mission to help others to live a better and longer quality of life. There is no excuse for suffering with terrible health when there are so many options for health and life.

Take care of yourself and your family!

Warmly,

It is absolutely the most wonderful serendipity to connect with someone who understands what you have gone through and are going through. My gratitude is so immense to have friends who understand what it is like to take care of parents with Alzheimers/Dementia and who share their best thoughts with you on things most helpful in your journey.

I wish I had met Julie Farmer before my Mom died last year 2008. I have been researching and studying alternative health solutions for almost 40 years now. Over those years, I have found some excellent products which helped my Mom and Dad with their health issues. Of course, I take and use the products as well since I am planning on NOT having Alzheimers/Dementia. It was so very difficult watching my Mom lose all her memories and I don’t want to put my family through that agony if I can help it.

I remember going over to Mom and Dad’s every other day or so to help out because my poor Dad just didn’t understand how this could be happening to Mom and she would cry because she knew she was losing everything. Daddy would call me and say that he could not stop her crying and would I come over. I would crawl into bed with her, hold her, hug her and rock her….telling her over and over again that she would not lose me….I would be with her always.

Eventually, Mom was too much for Dad to handle and he had been diagnosed with Dementia (early stage), so we found a Secure Assisted Living for Alzheimers/Dementia patients and they both went to live there. That is another story so stay tuned.

Warmly,
Connie
